How to check whether an OGPO VTS policy is genuine

All compulsory motor third-party liability insurance (OGPO VTS) contracts in Kazakhstan are registered in the Unified Insurance Database (ESBD). If a policy is not there, it does not exist for the insurance company or the police.

How to check:

on the ESBD website or the eGov portal — by policy number, the owner's IIN or the car's licence plate;
in the personal account or app of the insurance company that issued the policy;
by calling the Insurance Center Insurance Center — a manager will check the policy free of charge.

Check the validity period, the list of drivers and the car details. If anything doesn't match, contact the insurance company before you drive — after an accident it will be too late to correct the error.
