Accidents without the police: how to document them

Minor accidents can be documented on your own, without the police. This saves time and does not block traffic.

When this is possible:

• no one was killed or injured in the accident;
• all parties have a valid compulsory motor third-party liability (OGPO VTS) policy;
• the parties agree on the circumstances of the accident and do not dispute who is at fault.

What to do: turn on the hazard lights, set up the warning triangle, photograph the position of the cars, the damage and the licence plates, fill in the accident notice together with the other party and report the incident to your insurance company within the set time limit.
